Obedience 2012
Judy enjoys showing our Yorkie's in obedience and got her first two UD's in the mid 70's. Judy's Novice A dog (Rags) was a very happy worker. They learned a lot together. He was amazing, especially considering that he was Judy's first dog and she made many mistakes. Back then treats were never used and the corrections were quite harsh, even for little dogs. Rags was a 200 score/HIT dog, also the first Yorkie or Toy Dog of any breed to place at the World Series of Dog Obedience. He was shown until he was 9 years old. He had titles in US, Canada and Bermuda. After Rags retired he enjoyed competing with the Sportsmen’s Scent Hurdle Relay Team. This was a lot of fun. Judy was competing with younger Yorkies, but only Rags did the Scent Hurdle Relay races.
Here are Judy and Olivia at the 2012 AKC NOI (National Obedience Invitational), Olivia was the Top Toy and in the top 10 of all breeds competing from the U.S. and Canada.
The AKC NOI or National Obedience Invitational is not like the normal dog shows that competitors may enter. For handler and his dog to compete in the NOI they have to be invited. The AKC invites the top three teams (dog and handler) from each registered AKC breed. So it is an honor to be invited and a real honor just to be able to compete at the NOI. Everything at the NOI is top drawer, you have great judges who are judging and also judges who are stewarding. Competition is tough! You are competing against the cream of the crop.
The NOI is a two day competition there are eight rings with eight different judges each day. The following videos show how Judy and Olivia accomplished what they did there.
